WomenVenture Now in Third Year at EAA AirVenture

Plans are in place for the very popular WomenVenture initiative as part of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2010. Enthusiastic WomenVenture participants are in for an exciting program designed to inspire women to become more deeply involved in aviation.

"WomenVenture is a fantastic opportunity to reach out to women at this world-class aviation event," said WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. "WomenVenture provides an accessible way for women to take their first step into the aviation community whether as a pilot, for a career, or just for fun."

WomenVenture will expand to two days for 2010, and kicks off with an evening in Theater in the Woods on Thursday, July 29th at 7:00 pm. WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian will host a panel of accomplished and inspiring women including NASA Astronaut Bonnie Dunbar and Space Station Commander Peggy Whitson.

The activities continue on Friday morning at 8 a.m. with a breakfast for all WomenVenture participants in the EAA Nature Center. Tickets for this breakfast are available by calling WAI at (937) 839-4647 or at the Women in Aviation, International booth at EAA AirVenture.

The highlight of WomenVenture for many is the group photo of women pilots taken in AeroShell Square. Free t-shirts are distributed to all WomenVenture-registered pilots, including student pilots. The photograph will be taken following the WomenVenture breakfast on Friday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m.

EAA Vice President Elissa Lines, co-chair with Peggy Chabrian, of WomenVenture, says, "Join us at AirVenture Oshkosh. Not only will you enjoy hundreds of workshops, forums, and presentations, many given by women who will be with us for the group photo, but you will also find your spirit take flight as you become part of this wave of energy!"
